Yes, you can make medicine at home!

It is becoming more and more apparent that inflammation is at the root of most chronic and degenerative diseases.

From depression and Alzheimer’s disease to heart disease and cancer, it turns out that your best choice for treatment or prevention is to reduce inflammation throughout your whole body.

This article is going to introduce you to Golden Mylk, one of the best and most natural ways you can prevent illness and heal your body at home.

I recommend buying organic ingredients and making a large batch.

This YUMMY beverage tastes like Chai Tea and can even be used to spice up a curry.

WARNING! – Do Not use this recipe if your pregnant

Golden Mylk is a traditional Ayurvedic treatment for reducing inflammation, preventing cancer and increasing longevity. There are many unique recipes for Golden Mylk, the simplest being Turmeric simmered in milk at a low temperature. The recipe below is a modern and scientifically augmented version that makes curcumin, a highly active compound in turmeric, approximately 8000 times more bioavailable.

This yummy beverage is traditionally taken before bed to, relieve pain, improve sleep and promote health.

Turmeric is one of the healthiest plants on Earth. The main active ingredient in Turmeric is called Curcumin, which is a very effective antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anti-cancer compound. There are many supplements that have Curcumin extracts in them, which makes it easy to add to your diet. Unfortunately, Curcumin is very hard to absorb by itself. Below is the recipe and below that is a description of why this specific formula is medical grade.

High Potency Golden Milk

Phase One Ingredients

      • 1/3 cup organic turmeric powder (1 cup grated, fresh with rind)
      • 1 cup of water
      • 1.5 teaspoon powdered ginger (3 tbsp grated, fresh with rind)
      • 1 teaspoon freshly ground cloves or dried buds
      • 1.5 teaspoon ground Ceylon cinnamon
      • 4 teaspoons organic unpasteurized honey/ Monk fruit sugar, or C-Grade maple syrup.
      • Pinch of Sea Salt – more if you plan to use this in savoury dishes.
      • 1 cup coconut oil
      • 1 cup organic lite coconut milk (per serving)

This combination is ideal and safe for anyone in Phase One. It is not as potent as the next recipe but it is important to avoid seeds like black pepper for a month or two. Cloves, if you are concerned are a dried mature flower bud and the seed pod has not had time to mature and create all of the nasty antinutrients you are trying to avoid.

Phase Two Ingredients

      • 1/4 cup organic turmeric powder
      • 1 cup of water
      • 1 teaspoon powdered ginger (2 tsp fresh)
      • 1 teaspoon freshly ground cloves
      • 1 teaspoon ground Ceylon cinnamon
      • 1 teaspoon freshly cracked pepper (treated)
      • 4 teaspoons organic unpasteurized honey/ Monk fruit sugar, or C-Grade maple syrup.
      • 1 cup coconut oil
      • 1 cup organic coconut milk/hemp milk/cashew milk (per serving)

Once you begin the reintroduction process, you may choose to include black pepper (freshly ground if possible) in your Golden Mylk. This will activate the curcumin in Turmeric significantly. If you want this antiinflammatory benefit and choose not to go through the reintroduction process slowly, then simmer your ground peppercorns in a 1/4 cup lime juice and or vinegar for 30 minutes. Strain and add to your healthy past when it asks for ground pepper.

Phase Three/Four Ingredients

      • 1/4 cup organic turmeric powder
      • 1 cup of water
      • 1 teaspoon powdered ginger (2 tsp fresh)
      • 1 teaspoon freshly ground cloves
      • 1 teaspoon ground Ceylon cinnamon
      • 1 teaspoon freshly cracked pepper (treated or not)
      • 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
      • 1 teaspoon freshly crushed cardamom
      • 4 teaspoons organic unpasteurized honey/ Monk fruit sugar, or C-Grade maple syrup
      • 1 cup coconut oil
      • 1 cup organic goat’s milk, almond or coconut milk (per serving)

This recipe is the optimal combination to support several positive and gradual changes throughout your whole body while maximizing the immediate anti-inflammatory benefits. Any of the above recipes can also be used as a ‘curry’ paste or a way of making a stirfry even more healthy.

Method:

  • Simmer the water in a saucepan and add the fresh or ground spices.
  • Stir frequently for 5 – 10 minutes with a utensil you are happy to see turn yellow. You may need to add some water or wait a little longer, depending on how finely ground the ingredients are. You are looking for a paste-like consistency – like toothpaste.
  • Add the coconut oil and stir until blended completely.
  • Allow to cool and stir in the honey/ to another sweetener. This is optional but, in concert with an appropriate diet, a small amount of glucose and fructose keeps your pathways resilient. One serving of this recipe contains approximately 1/50th of a teaspoon of sweetener.
  • Refrigerate in a glass container.

When it is time to make some very potent Golden milk, add about 2 teaspoons of the paste (or less at first) to a cup of coconut milk or another cream like beverage. If you are using cacao, organic hot chocolate powder and some Golden Mylk is amazing. Believe it or not, Some GM paste is excellent with a warm bowl of bone broth.

Hemp Milk is best. Cashew milk is better than almond milk for most people. If you are exploring dairy, goat’s milk is almost always more tolerable for your entire body.

Heat your ‘milk of choice’ until it is warm enough that small bubbles come to the surface. Do not allow it to boil. Place a teaspoon in the pot until it is hot. Use your heated spoon to scrape 2 tsp of paste and dissolve into your brew. Add a bit odd a tsp of sweetener if you are seeking a comforting beverage and feel certain it will not disturb your metabolism or gut.

Enjoy daily, especially about an hour before bed.

Here is Why…

Medicinal herbs are amazing!

There are hundreds, if not thousands of medicinal substances and each one has something special that it can do to help you in some way. More importantly, when you combine certain herbs, they can intensify their beneficial effects in very predictable and potent ways.

For example, when you add freshly cracked pepper to Turmeric powder it makes the hard to absorb Curcumin about 2,000 times more absorbable. This is because fresh pepper contains Piperine, a volatile alkaloid that has some interesting properties. Not only does pepper make Curcumin more bio-available, but it also reduces sensitivity to pain, improves cognition, and enhances liver function.

By emulsifying these ingredients in coconut oil, the medical benefit becomes four times stronger. Pretty cool!

Cinnamon is not only delicious; it also has many medicinal properties. Before I get into its benefits I need to clarify something. There are two kinds of cinnamon, Ceylon cinnamon, and Cassia cinnamon. In most of the world, it is easier to get Cassia Cinnamon, which unfortunately contains a significant amount of a substance called coumarin. Coumarin has some negative side effects, and at high doses can damage your liver. Don’t worry, you would have to eat a lot of Cassia cinnamon to hurt yourself. When making a medicinal beverage like Golden Milk it only makes sense to get the more medicinal Ceylon cinnamon. It is better to buy the sticks and grind them yourself than it is to buy the powder, but the powder will work well enough if you can’t find the sticks.

Cinnamon is an amazing medicinal plant. Taken regularly it can help lower blood sugar and triglycerides, which are very beneficial effects for most people in midlife. Cinnamon can also improve normal blood clotting, fights bacterial and fungal infections, improves memory and improves digestion.

Cardamom is an herb that is commonly used in Traditional Chinese medicine to stimulate Kidney function. Scientifically it has been shown to improve your kidney’s ability to eliminate toxins and helps stimulate your production of sex hormones, improving libido and overall sexual function. It can also help prevent cancer as an anti-inflammatory and antioxidant.

Cloves and Nutmeg are very effective in treating parasites and bacterial infections. They also stimulate the secretion of digestive enzymes, augment your immune system and help control blood sugar. Cloves are also known to reduce inflammation and pain and assist in promoting bone density. Nutmeg is known to induce sleep while decreasing anxiety.

Ginger is one of the world’s favorite flavors for a reason. This pungent and sweet root contains several unique phyto-chemicals that have some incredibly beneficial effects on human health. The main medical ingredient is called Gingerol and has very powerful anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects. Regular use of this herb has been shown to reduce pain in Arthritis and other inflammatory conditions. Ginger has been used for millennia as a treatment for nausea and morning sickness. There is even some promising research that Ginger may reduce the likelihood of several cancers and is even being considered as a natural adjunct to use with Chemotherapy.

Yummy – and great for preventing chronic disease.

Honey is much more than a delicious sweetener. It contains natural antioxidants, enzymes, and minerals including iron, zinc, potassium, calcium, phosphorous, magnesium and selenium. Vitamins found in honey include vitamin B6, thiamine, riboflavin, pantothenic acid (B 5) and niacin. Honey also promotes the growth of good bacteria in your intestines, blocks free radicals, aids sleep, counters pollen allergies and reduces homocysteine levels to maintain a healthy heart.

Coconut oil is one of the richest sources of saturated fats on earth, with almost 90% of the fatty acids in this healthy food being saturated. Coconut oil also contains Medium Chain Triglycerides (MCT oils), which are fatty acids of a medium length that go straight to your liver from your digestive tract. MCT’s are used as a quick source of energy in your liver or turned into ketones, which can have a therapeutic effect on epilepsy and Alzheimer’s disease. Almost half of the fatty acids in coconut oil are made of a specific molecule called Lauric Acid, which kills harmful pathogens like bacteria, viruses, and fungi.

By combining all of these medicinal ingredients you will have created a treasure trove of health and prevention for most chronic diseases.

Warning!

If you use Medical Cannabis this beverage will increase the psychoactive and other effects significantly.

If you have Gall Bladder issues or have had yours removed, start with half of a serving and pay attention to your gut. Turmeric can stimulate bile production.
