What has self-isolation brought into your life?
Have you ever heard the expression, ‘Follow the guidance of your better angels?’
I love that affirmation of clarity and self-trust.
I am also reminded of those cartoons with a character who has an angel and a demon on each shoulder trying to convince them to do something ‘good or bad.’
There is another version of this I see on social media a lot. It is a story about having two wolves inside of your soul, one is anger and one is love – or one is good and one is bad.
The one who rules your life is the wolf you feed the most – or the one you give the most attention.
What does any of that have to do with your day?
Well, after almost 2 months of self-isolation, group quarantine, or whatever this has been like for you, you are probably getting familiar with the proverbial angels and demons on your shoulders.
If you were to look at ‘pandemic life’ through the lens of social media, most people are living in their pyjamas, eating more than usual, binge-watching tv shows and trying to stay busy or distracted – or both.
Some of us are craving attention and contact while others are hiding in the laundry room for a moment of personal space.
I hope you are finding your balance in all of that.
I hope you are learning to appreciate your inner angels and wolves.
That is the subtle message in today’s email. The best any of us can do is be honest with our selves and with our angels and demons.
The best you can possibly ever do is to learn from the past, to learn from the ways you respond to different kinds of pressure and change.
As we all shyly poke our noses back outside and into the world we used to all share every day, the best we can do is learn from each other’s experiences.
I would love to hear about what you have learned…
I will be doing a podcast called ‘Shifting your Mindset and Metabolism for a post-Quarentene World‘ early next week.
Speaking of podcasts, I recently had the opportunity to catch up with an old friend and we decided to do a podcast on addiction and sobriety.
I would like to introduce you to Dr, Dana Leigh Lyons. One of the smartest and most authentic people I know.
In this unexpected episode of Fusion Health Radio, Anthony Sanna and I chat with Dana about her experience with her personal angels and wolves – and about her incredible work with people who have addictive and compulsive behaviours.
If you are looking for some inspiration and guidance, or just some honest human truth about living through challenging experiences, please check out this insightful conversation.

Dana also offers some great online support. If you are on the journey of sobriety or just getting ‘sober curious’, Dr. Lyons has a sobriety kit and recovery journal package that is AMAZING!
